Silres BS 4004
SILRES® BS 4004 is a water-thinnable, solventless emulsion, based on a mixture of silane and siloxane. Dilute solutions of SILRES® BS 4004 serve as water repellents for priming mineral surfaces.
SILRES® BS 4004 emulsion contains a stabilized mixture of silanes and siloxanes that are susceptible to hydrolysis. Hydrolysis occurs only after application to the substrate, which breaks the emulsion. Alcohol is released and the emulsion is converted into a silicone resin water repellent. SILRES® BS 4004 reduces the capillary absorption of the building which it has penetrated, but does not clog pores or capillaries. There is therefore little or no impairment of the building material´s ability to "breathe".
Advantages
·Superior permeability
·Fast film-forming and generating water repellency
·High durability
·Provides good adhesion for paints
Typical general characteristics
Appearance | Milky white liquid |
Active substance | Approximately 50 % |
Density(25 ℃) | Approximately 950 kg/m³ |
Dynamic viscosity(25 ℃) | Approximately 12 mPa·s |
Applications
> Absorbent mineral substrate such as cement fiber board, clay brick, natural sandstone and autoclaved areated concrete
> Water-repellent primer for common paint, silicone resin paint and silicone resin plaster
It is recommended that BS 4004 be brushed or showered on substrates after dilution. Two "wet on wet" coats are needed to ensure complete coverage.
Recommended dosage
We recommend an active substance content of 5-10% (dilute the product in the ratio 1:5 to 1:10), the exact figure depending on how absorbent the substrate is.
