Silres BS 1001
SILRES® BS 1001 is a water-thinnable, solventless emulsion, based on a mixture of silane and siloxane. Its dilute solutions serve as water repellents for impregnating and priming mineral surfaces. It can also be mixed with other polymer emulsions, used as primer to reinforce substrates.
SILRES® BS 1001 emulsion contains a stabilized mixture of silanes and siloxanes that are susceptible to hydrolysis. Hydrolysis occurs only after application to the substrate, which breaks the emulsion. Alcohol is released and the emulsion is converted into a silicone resin water repellent. SILRES® BS 1001 reduces the capillary absorption of the building which it has penetrated, but does not clog pores or capillaries. There is therefore little or no impairment of the building material´s ability to "breathe".
Advantages
·Good depth of penetration
·High alkaline resistance
·Rapid development of water repellency
·Provides good adhesion for paints
·Water-based and environmentally compatible
·Stable in storage, even when diluted
Typical general characteristics
Appearance | Milky white |
Active substance | Approximately 50 % |
Density (23 ℃) | 950 kg/m³ |
Dynamic viscosity (25 ℃) | Approximately 12 mPa·s |
Applications
> Absorbent mineral substrates such as cement fiber board, clay brick, natural sandstone and autoclaved areated concrete
> Water-repellent primer for latex paint, silicone resin paint and relevant textured coating It is recommended that BS 1001 be brushed or showered on substrates after dilution.
Two "wet on wet" coats are needed to ensure complete coverage.
Recommended dosage
We recommend an active substance content of 5-10% (dilute the product in the ratio 1:4 to 1:9), the exact figure depending on how absorbent the substrate is.
